The ocean breeze puts my mind at ease....Enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets and true serenity on the Maine coast at this bright and sunny rental, Serenity by The Sea has two spacious living areas, a sunroom, and a waterfront deck. Sorrento is very conveniently located. A short drive up the peninsula to Coastal Route 1 takes you to several great restaurants and a quaint general store. 14 miles to Ellsworth, for plenty of shops and dining options. This is the gateway to Acadia National Park (Bar Harbor is about 30 miles) and 14 miles in the opposite direction is the Schoodic Peninsula entry to Acadia. This is known as the quiet side of Acadia, which offers breathtaking views as well as a ferry to Bar Harbor, to avoid traffic.

LIVING AREA Picture windows flood the main living area with ample natural light and offer amazing harbor views. Unwind and watch a movie on the 50” flat-screen TV. Or enjoy a book or game in the cozy seating area, furnished with a love seat, chairs and game table. Sip morning coffee in the lovely sunroom, equipped with abundant window seating. Downstairs, a second living area offers additional sleeping on the queen futon, and a flat-screen TV.

KITCHEN & DINING Whip up meals in the large well-equipped kitchen that features a full suite of appliances, drip coffee maker and ample counter space. When you are ready to dine, gather at the table for six while enjoying the views.

BED & BATH This two-story home sleeps up to six guests between the two bedrooms and a futon in the second living area. The master bedroom is furnished with a queen bed, a twin daybed with a twin trundle, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. A sunny bay window offers a wonderful place to take in the harbor views. A second bedroom offers a queen bed. The adjacent guest bathroom is configured with a walk-in shower.

AMENITIES & DETAILS Complimentary Wi-Fi, a washer/dryer, and driveway parking for 1 car, with additional off-street parking, are provided. This rental does not have air-conditioning. The entry to this two-story home is accessed via a flight of exterior stairs

OUTDOOR AREA A spacious front deck is the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. Watch the lobster and sailboats travel through the harbor, the tides change, and observe the various sea birds.

You are going to love sitting on the roof deck for morning coffee or evening cocktails. There are unsurpassed views and it's the perfect spot to watch eagles hunt for their dinner. At night, you have unobstructed views to watch for shooting stars.

THE LOCATION The Historic village of Sorrento was developed as a summer community for the wealthy in the mid 1880s. It is now a true hidden gem in Down East Maine. A very desirable, secluded community offering spectacular views of Bar Harbor and the mountains of Mount Desert Island. Sorrento’s 9 -hole public golf course is a rare jewel on the rugged Maine coast, echoing the more storied layouts of St. Andrews and Royal Troon, Scotland. The open, links-style course offers exquisitely manicured bent grass greens and stunning views of Flanders Bay. Bring your kayak (or rent one) and explore the densely forested Preble Island -- located directly across the harbor -- known for its cobble beaches and roosting eagles. Or discover the many nearby islands. Other local activities include biking, boating, fishing, and bird watching.

  This was the cleanest vacation rental we have stayed in.
  My only suggestion to the owner/rental company would be a better system for trash. There was a full trash can in the garage plus several full bags next to trash can when we arrived. It looked and smelled like it had been there quite some time. Still a very positive experience! House was spotless. View was perfect. It was nice to have a peaceful retreat after long days at Acadia.

  Cozy home nice and clean great view. The property managers were quick to respond to questions and problems. The location was nice and quiet. Home could use some updates some blinds do not work, could use some new wash cloths for the bathroom. The beds were clean and we slept good. The location was great to be able to be accessible to both sides of Acadia NP.

  The location was spectacular. We were a 30min drive from both parts of Acadia and the view from the front deck was spectacular itself. It felt like a home away from home and had everything you would need. We loved the sun room!

  We had two couples on a road trip from Boston to Acadia. This house worked out great for us. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed. We walked through the neighborhood and down to the water to watch the sunset - beautiful! Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any eagles. We had great weather so the deck got used both days/nights we were there. The living room furniture and deck furniture could use an upgrade though but that didn't take away from a great stay.

  This was the perfect place for us, four old college roommates getting together to hang out after 40 years. We loved waking up each morning to see the harbor full of lobster boats in the early fog, so rustic. The place is homey, comfortable and well taken care of. If you need a fourth bed you might want to bring an inflatable one like we did as the sofa may not be your cup of tea (if you like to spread out). Highly recommended!

  We enjoyed our two-night stay at this beautiful property... wish we would've had more time to spend there just relaxing as it was so homey feeling. It was very clean and comfortable with lovely coastal decor. The communication with the property manager was excellent! We originally wanted to stay in Bar Harbor as we were there to visit Acadia but due to limited options, we chose this property and are glad we did. It was very peaceful and nice to get away from the busyness of that area and definitely worth the 40-minute drive. Be sure to plan accordingly as there are no grocery stores or restaurants in Sorrento!

  We had a Wonderful experience and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The views from the rooms and the deck were just beautiful. A short walk down the road and you can see the Acadia mountains. It is only 20 minutes to Schoodic point which is the quiet part of Acadia National Park and was incredible.

  The property was clean and well maintained when we arrived. The property description was accurate regarding the location and layout. When we asked for the Internet code we were provided it in a timely manner. The layout worked well for us as a family of two grandparents, two parents and two young children. The property is about an hour drive to the attractions on Mount Desert Island (Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor), but we appreciated the quiet location away from all the congestion on Mount Desert and enjoyed the drive in every day. Good grocery stores are located conveniently in Ellsworth. The kitchen was well equipped for us to prepare all the meals we made. The property is next to a road, but hardly any cars go down the road and more often you see people walking on the road. We found people to be very friendly in Sorrento. The best part of the stay was the beautiful view of the bay from the front windows. It was hard to leave the view. The only unusual part of the cottage was that the counters in the kitchen were lower than standard counters. We did not find that much of a problem.
